MEDWAY — Superintendent Dr. Armand Pires and Principal Dr. John Murray are pleased to announce that 20 Medway High School (MHS) students have been inducted into the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica (SHH), also known as the Spanish National Honor Society.
The induction ceremony was held on Thursday, Jan. 29, at MHS.
The SHH is an honor society for high school students enrolled in Spanish and/or Portuguese, sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese. It was formally organized as the Spanish National Honor Society in 1953 and changed its name to Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica in 1959.
The Medway High School Spanish Honor Society, Charla Justa Chapter, is proud to celebrate a distinguished group of students who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to the Spanish language. To become members, students must maintain a weighted average of 90% or higher in their Spanish studies, reflecting their commitment to linguistic and cultural excellence. The Charla Justa Chapter at MHS is committed to inspiring a love for the Spanish language and culture while promoting academic excellence and cross-cultural appreciation.
“I’m extremely proud of our students,” said Dr. Marieangie Ocasio-Varela, Medway High School World Languages Coordinator and Educator, Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica/Spanish Honor Society Advisor, and Class of 2025 Advisor. “The Spanish Honor Society induction ceremony is not only a testament to their language acquisition journey at MHS; it also showcases the importance of global citizenship and the power of language within the global community. ¡Felicidades a todos!”
